GOAL

How might we improve the experience of new users in order to be more relevant to their business needs?

understanding the problem

Visier equips users with real-time insights into organizational changes, enabling them to make data-backed business decisions with confidence. New users entering Visier's rich ecosystem initially face the hurdle of finding the right tools for their goals.

Our hackathon challenge was to tackle how might we make data analytics less overwhelming for new users?

While the prompt offered a broad scope, we wanted to refine the specific user challenge we wanted to address.

To gain deeper insights into HR's perspective on employee performance evaluation, we interviewed two HR professionals.

It identified a common challenge: HR professionals struggle to find HR analytics platforms that are highly customizable and address their organization's specific needs for employee performance evaluation.

Primary Research

user Persona

Data Scientist FIndings

To strengthen our user research, our data scientist independently analyzed data that validated our initial findings.

Solution

We created a personalized onboarding experience. By inputting company details, users receive a tailored dashboard that reflects their specific needs. However, the system remains flexible, allowing users to customize the templates further for an optimal fit.

Hackathon Winner

We presented our solution in front of students, educators, and 3 Visier employees, in which we were chose as the winners of the hackathon!

Takeaways

Limited time and resources

While our brainstorming session yielded some innovative features, the tight timeframe of the hackathon forced us to make strategic choices. We realized that focusing on a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) would allow us to validate a core user need, which was customization.
